		<description><![CDATA[In the first few weeks of June, the Smithsonian opened an all-American made gift shop. A U.S. Senator introduced legislation mandating federal agencies buy all American-made flags. And at the Netroots Nation 2011 conference, the AFL-CIO will serve American union-made beer. The Alliance for American Manufacturing will host an American-made fashion show. And the BlueGreen Alliance will give Netroots attendees mercury-free, USW-made,  non-curly cue Oshram Sylvania halogen light bulbs. With 9.1 percent unemployment, this convergence of American-made events is significant because buying American-made products is buying American jobs. And buying American union-made products is buying good, middle class American jobs.]]></description>
