Cognitive Dissonance

Leo Toribio
Pittsburgh, Pa.

When JFK was running for the Presidency, there was a public clamor raised about whether the election of a Roman Catholic would mean that the Pope would become the de facto leader of the USA.

Today we have two self-professed Roman Catholic candidates — Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum — neither of whom inspires such questions because what each of them “preaches” is contrary to both the Holy Bible and the teachings of the Pope.

Here’s a link to an article on Pope Benedict XVI and his views on where the world is headed economically:

What he expresses is both conservative and Christian, not what we hear from any of the GOP candidates.

By way of personal disclosure, I am not a Roman Catholic.
